800m –
Oakley Burge (BHA) was finally able to break the 2 minute barrier running a winning time of 1:59.50 to score 420 points. Riley Shillito (BYC) was 2nd in a time of 2:01.26, scoring 403 points. A special mention to Archie Grant (EKA) who ran 2:06.85 to score 443 points.
The women’s 800s looked VERY strong this weekend! Lucy Jones (EKA) took the win over a very strong competitor Aria Violini (BYC) in a time of 2:17.38 over Aria’s 2:19.73. Lucy scored 440 and Aria scored 447. Well done to Paige Tuddenham (BYC) and Amali Torney (WEN) on both scoring over 400 points. Special congratulations to Eleanor Downey (EKA) who scored the most points with a score of 462.
Hurdles –
With the few competitors that entered, it was good to see Riley Shillito (BYC) run 63.53 in the 400m Hurdles to score 335 points. Julie Pendred (BHA) was close to her personal record where she ran 71.96 in the 200m Hurdles
200m – The wind was in no mood to be supportive on Saturday with all races having some form of a headwind. The standouts from the sprints included Pat Scuffins (WEN) who ran to win for Ballarat in a time of 23.82 seconds. Conrad Oberholzer was the outstanding runner where he ran 25.26 to score 403 points. The women saw Armani Anderson (BHA) take the victory in a time of 25.47 to beat Darcy Thatcher (BHA) and Kiana Jenkins (BHA) who both scored over 400.
3000m – This race was run mixed in two heats. The first heat had Rosie Hunt (WEN) score the highest amount of points scoring 389, in a time of 10:38.44. Paige Tuddenham (BYC) also did well to run 11:35.38. Riley Shillito (BYC) was first across the line in a time of 9:32.87. Perrie Grant (EKA) scored 341 points with his time of 10:22.01. In the second heat Michelle Hawkes (WEN) scored highly with her time of 12:43.83, also Kelly Ruddick (BHA) had an awesome run, with a time of 12:08.04
4x400m –
Plenty of action in the relays where we saw:
Well done to the Ballarat Harriers and Eureka teams who crossed the finish line first.
Discus –
Jace Murray (WEN) and Kim Gleeson (BYC) as per usual were the star performers out on the field. Jace scored 397 points with his throw of 45.03m, where Kim scored 339 points with her throw of 31.83m. Her throw was actually a 40+ women’s record! She bettered her own record by over a metre! Congratulations Kim!!!
Hammer –
Well done to Lachlan Hawkes (WEN) and Kim Gleeson (BYC) for being the top point scorers for the hammer. Lachlan threw 45.04m to score 337 points and Kim threw 37.03m for 364 points. However Pauline Graham (EKA) broke the 50+ female hammer record, where she bettered her own record with a throw of 28.85m. Well done Pauline!
High Jump –
We welcome back Yual Reath (WEN) our olympian who jumped 2.15m in Ballarat today! He scored 475 points. Rohan Thiele (BYC) also jumped well with a 1.74m. Caitlin Christie (WEN) led the women’s with a jump of 1.34m. Misha Jenkins (BHA) did well to score 351 points with her jump of 1.29m
Long Jump –
Kynan Stasinowsky (EKA) had the biggest jump of the day, leaping to 6.17m to score 402 points. Purv Patel jumped 5.94m to score 412 points. The Jenkins girls all did well, where Summer scored 407, Kiana scored 404 and Misha scored 334. Olivia Papageorgiou (WEN) scored 420 points with her jump of 4.81m. Our best female was Mackayla Culvenor (WEN) who scored 452 points with her massive jump of 5.46m!
