200m – Nelson Banigo (BHA) was placed in a tough position being the only Ballarat athlete in heat 1, but still performed with a time of 23.68, scoring 429 points. The 200m provided not ideal conditions with the winding blowing around -2.0 for the duration of the heats. However it was no problem for Grace Kelly (BHA) running a time of 24.67 scoring 464 to beat Armani Anderson (BHA) who ran 25.71 scoring 445 points. Shakira Lual (BHA) also scored highly with 448 points with a time of 27.14.

Hurdles – We saw one standout performer in the hurdles on Saturday and it was none other than the ever so consistent Julie Pendred. She broke her own record in the 300m Hurdles by over 3 seconds. She lowered her record from 74.64 to 71.06. Congratulations Julie, we are sure this is not the only record you will be breaking this season. We look forward for the rest to come.

Field

Long Jump – We had a special result In the long jump on Saturday. Mackayla Culvenor (WEN) had a HUGE jump on her second attempt jumping 6.46 scoring the highest points we have seen this season, 537. HOWEVER, this jump had an illegal jump of 3.0. Even then if it had of been legal it still would have been a very far jump. The best male we saw was Purv Patel (WEN) scoring 380 points with a jump of 5.57m. HUGGGGGE day for long jump.

High Jump – Lucy Fraser (BHA) was the most outstanding female athlete in the High Jump scoring 415 points with a jump of 1.56m. In the men’s Charlie Parr (WEN) scored the highest with 417 with a jump of 1.96 before skipping straight to 2.06 for good practice.

Discus – As we saw last week in the field events we bring our attention back to Jace Murray (WEN) who threw the furthest with a throw of 43.91m scoring 390 points. However no points were awarded, he did have a throw of 46.56m but was considered extra throws.
